This course is ideal for early years professionals and anyone responsible for the care of children in a professional or voluntary setting.

What the Course Covers

The Paediatric First Aid course focuses on both emergency life-saving skills and the management of common illnesses and injuries in infants and children. Key topics include:

  • Emergency Response

    • Assessing an emergency situation

    • Dealing with an unresponsive infant or child

    • Performing CPR and using an AED

    • Recovery position techniques for children

    • Managing choking incidents

  • Injury and Illness Management

    • Control of bleeding and treatment of wounds

    • Treatment of burns and scalds

    • Head injuries, fractures, sprains, and dislocations

    • Recognising and responding to seizures, asthma, and allergic reactions

    • Febrile convulsions and high temperatures

    • Meningitis awareness

  • Additional Elements

    • Dealing with shock and anaphylaxis (including auto-injector use)

    • Minor injuries including nosebleeds, splinters, bites and stings

    • Record keeping and incident reporting

    • Responsibilities of the paediatric first aider under EYFS guidelines

We use realistic training aids and child-specific mannequins to ensure learners become confident and capable in age-appropriate care.
