Immediate Life Support (ILS) Course

The ILS course is designed to prepare healthcare professionals and emergency responders for rapid, effective action in life-threatening situations. Delivered by experienced medical instructors at Allied Medical Group, this course goes beyond basic CPR by introducing structured team-based approaches and the early recognition and management of critically unwell patients.

  • Certification: Valid for 1 year (aligned with Resuscitation Council UK standards)

  • Accreditation: Qualsafe Awards or equivalent recognised awarding body

This course is particularly suitable for clinicians, dental teams, ambulance support staff, care providers, and first responders who may encounter acutely unwell patients in critical situations.

What the Course Covers

The ILS course builds on basic life support skills and introduces the tools, techniques, and structured approaches needed to manage deteriorating patients and cardiac arrest in real-time scenarios.

  • Core Clinical Content:

    • ABCDE approach to assessing the deteriorating patient

    • Recognition of cardiac arrest and peri-arrest situations

    • Adult CPR with airway adjuncts and bag-valve-mask ventilation

    • Safe use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)

    • Introduction to manual defibrillation and shockable vs non-shockable rhythms

    • Basic airway management including suction and supraglottic devices

  • Team-Based and Leadership Elements:

    • Role allocation and communication in emergency response teams

    • Leading or supporting a resuscitation attempt

    • Effective teamwork and closed-loop communication

    • Post-resuscitation care and patient handover

  • Scenario-Based Learning:

    • Practical simulations of medical emergencies

    • Hands-on sessions using high-quality manikins and clinical equipment

    • Constructive debriefing to enhance performance and confidence

All training is delivered in accordance with Resuscitation Council UK guidelines and reflects current best practices in emergency response and patient care.
