  • Course Title: First Aid at Work

  • Duration: 3 days (can be delivered over consecutive or non-consecutive days)

  • Group Size: Up to 12 learners

  • Certification: Valid for 3 years (regulated by Qualsafe Awards)

This course is designed to meet the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and is suitable for workplaces with medium to high-risk environments.

What the Course Covers

Throughout the three days, learners will be trained in both life-saving emergency skills and the ongoing management of common workplace incidents.

  • Emergency Response

    • Managing an incident safely and effectively

    • Primary and secondary survey

    • Unresponsive casualties: recovery position, CPR, and AED use

    • Choking management

  • Injury Management

    • Control of bleeding, including embedded objects and shock

    • Treatment of burns and scalds

    • Bone, joint and muscle injuries (fractures, sprains, strains)

    • Head, neck, and spinal injuries

  • Medical Conditions

    • Recognising and responding to seizures, asthma attacks, heart attacks, and strokes

    • Managing diabetic emergencies

    • Dealing with anaphylaxis and use of auto-injectors

  • Additional Elements

    • Record keeping and incident reporting

    • First aider responsibilities under UK law

    • Use of first aid kits and workplace-specific considerations
